Story

One day Sandy meets a lion and he takes her to school on his back. The teacher stops calling the names in the classroom when she sees the little girl and the lion. She looks at the lion, and all the other pupils look at the lion, wondering what the teacher is going to say. The teacher says to the little girl: ”You know you are not allowed to bring pets to school.”

The lion begins to swish his tail — swish! swash! The little girl says: ”This is not a pet. This is my friend who is coming to school with me.” The teacher still looks at the lion, but she says to the little girl: ”What's his name then?” ”Noil”, says the little girl. ”His name is «Noil», just «Noil»”.

She knows it will be no good to tell the teacher that her friend is a lion, so she turns his name backwards — lion — Noil. The teacher writes the name down in the book. Noil. Then she finishes calling the names. ”Sandy Small”, she says.
”Yes”, says the little girl.
«Noil», says the teacher. ”Yes”, says the lion.
